This car marks a departure for Porsche. It is the first four-door sporting sedan that they have ever produced. The real unusual feature of the Porsche Panamera is that it is essentially a four-door hatchback. This is a configuration that has rarely been seen in this class of car, and Porsche hopes to exploit this layout to its advantage.

The car is a relatively long, luxurious four-door, but instead of having a trunk, it has a hatch, which opens up to reveal a much larger than usual storage bay, and, in combination with split fold-down rear seats, gives one the practicality of carrying a tremendous amount of gear that would not be possible in any Panamera's competitive four-door sedans, which include the Mercedes S63, BMW 760LI, and the Maserati Quattroporte GTS.

The Panamera comes in three editions, S, 4S, and Turbo, with horsepower ratings from 400 to 500. Each version features as standard Porsche's seven-speed dual clutch transmission, which is a first in this class. In addition, the interior is luxuriously equipped and well configured to cater to the needs of four full-sized adults. Because of its relative affordability and its potential for good performance and handling, the Panamera may represent a landmark sedan for Porsche DREAM DRIVES is excited to present it first this September!
